“CONCEPTION” ONLINE SHOW up all of JULY!

Hey friends! I am super excited to be participating in this online show with my colleagues from Plein Air Painters of the Southeast (PAP-SE). Hosted by Hagan Fine Art in Charleston, SC. This show demonstrates the process of how sketches inform the final painting. Each artist is sharing their sketch, plein air painting and final studio painting for a selected piece. If you like to see what goes on behind the scenes, you will certainly enjoy this!

The images above are the two sketches I did in preparation for my final studio piece. The first is a gouache sketch used to gather color notes and check my composition. Keeping it super loose. The second is also plein air and done in oil. Here I refined my design and altered some of the color notes. Now I am very familiar with my subject.

Anne Blair Brown Awarded Master Status!

I am thrilled to share that the American Impressionist Society (AIS) has granted me Master Status!  This is the highest honor a member can achieve. There are four new 2021 inductees, and we are the first group of invited Masters since 2018.  I am honored, grateful, and humbled to be recognized in such a way and to be among such great company with fellow new Masters Dan Beck, James Richards, and Howard Friedland. 

I am looking forward to a long future with AIS and can’t wait to contribute and grow with this fine group of artists!

Join us as we celebrate our 21st Annual National Juried Exhibition which will feature 185 juried paintings from some of the top American Impressionist artists working today. In addition there will be 18 paintings by our AIS Masters, founders, officers and board members.

The work will be exhibited at the galleries. 

AIS will determine by mid-September which events we will hold in person.

The exhibition will be held at Illume Gallery in St George, Utah, and Illume's two sister galleries, The Mission Gallery and Authentique Gallery.

Tennessee Tornado Relief Art Auction-Art To the Rescue!

Friends, in light of the recent tornadoes in and around Nashville AND the hampering of relief and recovery efforts due to COVID-19, we are hoping to share a little love (and hopefully a big fat check) to the survivors whose homes, neighborhoods, and businesses have been destroyed. We can’t leave our house right now to help, but we are still here and WE CARE!

My friend Peach McComb and I have set up the Tennessee Tornado Relief Fund Art Auction-Art To the Rescue!

Over 100 paintings posted, all priced to sell. Artists from all over the nation have graciously donated, a well as many local Tennessee artists. 100% of the proceeds will go to Middle Tennessee Emergency Response through The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

"Cat Nap" wins Fine Art Connoisseur Award of Excellence at the American Impressionist Society 20th Annual National Juried Exhibition

I am very excited and honored to have participated in the milestone AIS 20th Annual National Juried Exhibition which featured 150 juried paintings from some of the top American Impressionist artists working today. Thanks to AIS for continuing to promote excellence in impressionist painting and bringing together artists from all over the country.
