This workshop is designed to help you loosen up and simplify, simplify, simplify! Anne will teach you to set up better compositions through the study of Notan (balance of dark and light). She will show you how to see values and shapes clearly to get to the essence of your design in its simplest form. Various exercises will help you to paint with freedom and confidence, opening you up to a more expressive style of painting.
Topics also covered in depth will be creating perfect color harmony, techniques for painterly brushwork, and balancing life study with photographic reference.
Class size limited. Each individual will receive focused attention and will come away with a plan for bringing their paintings to a higher level.

This workshop is for the artist looking to discover their inner Impressionist. Painting loosely and with fresh brushwork must start with creating a solid composition and value structure. The concept of Notan takes us immediately to the essence of our design in its simplest form.
