  • New Harmony Gallery 507 Church Street New Harmony, IN United States (map)

All great paintings have an underlying structure which draws the viewer from across the room. It is the brushstrokes that keep the viewer lingering.

Anne has developed a process that will help you maneuver between solid 'foundational' painting and becoming a more painterly, expressive artist. She will show you how to adhere to the necessary fundamentals of solid painting while encouraging you to explore your own artistic style. Through a series of exercises designed to break you free from fussy detail, you will learn confident paint application while gaining the skills to edit your subject to allow the “soul” of your painting to shine through.

Anne will demonstrate her process daily and will show you how she sets herself up for success at the beginning to ensure plenty of “play-time” with interpretive brushwork and color mixing.

Students will come away with a deeper confidence in conceptualizing and executing a painting from start to finish.

Each individual will receive focused attention and will come away with a plan for bringing their paintings to a higher level.

Level: All levels welcome

The class will be limited to 16 students.
